James M. Nieboer Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in 1993 by the Rochester Tooling and Machining Institute, Inc. to encourage students to engage in the metal working industry.

Purpose of Scholarship: For students enrolled in metal working industry related curricula at accredited community, junior or technical post-secondary institutions.

Number and Size of Awards: Number and size of awards varies.

Allowed Use of Award: Expenses associated with higher education.

Eligibility Criteria: Student must be a high school or GED graduate with satisfactory performance in the prerequisites for the chosen field.

Application Process: The application process is coordinated through Rochester Technology and Manufacturing Association, 2485 West Henrietta Rd., Suite 152, Rochester, NY 14623. Call (585) 292-3760 for an application and further details. Applications are due 3 weeks before each semester (Fall and Spring).

Committee/Selection Process: A committee comprised of two RTMA members and three MCC faculty member’s reviews applications, selects scholarship recipients, and notifies the Community Foundation.

Award Announcement and Payment: Award letters are sent by RTMA to the students and payment is made from the Community Foundation to RTMA for disbursement to the students’ accounts.

Renewability: This award is not automatically renewable; students may reapply each semester.

Other: This award is not transferable. If for any reason the recipient does not attend classes for the semester in which s/he receives the award, or if the class or classes are cancelled, the Community Foundation must be notified and the award returned. The recipient may reapply for future tuition assistance.
