Matthew and Patricia O'Connor Scholarship for Engineering Excellence
Established in 2017 by Matthew O’Connor, Assistant Vice President of Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services and adjunct faculty member in Engineering Science & Physics, and his wife Patricia, an elementary school teacher of Language Arts for close to four decades. The Matthew and Patricia O’Connor Scholarship for Engineering Excellence recognizes the dedication of all the faculty, staff and students in the Engineering Science & Physics Department and shows appreciation for the outstanding education offered in the A.S. Engineering Science program. The scholarship is intended for an elite non-traditional student who has returned to school for the AS degree after serving in the armed forces or working in industry. The ideal second year candidate is on pace to graduate within two years of starting the degree program.
1.) Special consideration given to “adult” or non-traditional students returning to school who intend to graduate with an A.S. degree.
2.) The ideal candidate is on pace to graduate within two years of starting the degree program with an A.S. Engineering Science major in the second year.
3.) Demonstrated merit.
4.) MCC GPA of 3.5 or higher.
