Mentors in Violence Prevention in ACTION Scholarship
The Mentors in Violence Prevention at MCC (MVP-MCC) “MVP in ACTION Scholarship” is funded by The MCC Foundation and is awarded annually to a returning student who competes by writing an essay addressing the following topic: “What have I done and/or plan to do with the principles of MVP Training to impact our community”. The essay must be 500-1000 words and meet additional criteria. All returning students are eligible, not just those who complete our three-day Train the Trainers (TtT) certification program.
1. Open to any student enrolled in Monroe Community College that is returning as a FULL-TIME Student (12+ Credit Hours) for the next School Year.
2. Selection of the winners will be decided by the Mentors in Violence Prevention Team and will be based upon the essay review.
Other factors that will be taken into consideration include: skill and ability, initiative, eagerness to learn, discretion, maturity, and flexibility.
How will I (the student) use and/or plan to use the characteristics of Mentors in Violence Prevention Training to impact our community. (Students do not need to have already taken MVP Training.)
- Essay must be between 500 and 1,000 words.
- Essay must be in Times New Roman font size 12. (Double-line spacing is NOT needed.)
