Sara Furguson Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Sara Furguson Endowed Scholarship is established as a permanent and everlasting tribute to Sara Furguson ’08, an MCC graduate. Sara sustained a high-level spinal cord injury from a motor vehicle accident at a young age. Despite this seemingly tragic event, Sara persevered in pursuing her academic and career goals. Sara began her academic journey at MCC followed by Cornell University and Buffalo School of Law and ultimately achieved her dream of becoming an attorney. Sara was tenacious in overcoming challenges all while recognizing the importance of the community around her and thinking of ways to help those in need. She credited her role as Officer of Phi Theta Kappa at MCC as inspiring her volunteer work in the community, which included starting a program to assist students with disabilities or temporary injuries with daily activities at Cornell University.

Sara would be pleased to assist other fellow MCC students in conquering their academic and career goals. Sara advised her fellow MCC students, “As you continue on your educational journey, I urge you to pursue your true passion, never question whether something is achievable because there is always a way to accomplish even the ostensibly impossible, study with diligence and enthusiasm, and never forget where you came from and the community around you.”
