Mary Eliza Mahoney Nursing Scholarship (Corning Inc. ORESU Nursing Education Scholarship)
The Corning Inc. ORESU Nursing Scholarship is a renewable, merit-based award sponsored by Corning’s Office of Racial Equality and Social Unity (ORESU). The scholarship covers tuition (fall and spring semesters), fees, and textbooks/supplies in the SUNY Monroe Community College (SUNY MCC) Nursing AAS program, either through completion of the Nursing AAS degree or up to four semesters in the Nursing AAS program, whichever comes first. It is open to incoming Nursing 111 students. Two (2) Corning, Inc. ORESU Nursing Scholarships are offered annually (one per semester) to students in SUNY MCC’s Nursing AAS program specifically, to high-performing students who are from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds with demonstrated financial need.
ELIGIBILITY
1.) Full-time students enrolled in MCC’s Nursing AAS program.
2.) Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
3.) Has submitted a FAFSA for the current academic year.
4.) Willing to enter into Service Obligation Scholarship Agreement with Corning Incorporated that states,_ “within three (3) months of successful completion of SUNY MCC’s Nursing Prelicensure Program, Scholar agrees to diligently seek and accept full-time employment and to begin providing full-time nursing services in a hospital system in Monroe County.”_
5.) Maintains a 3.0 GPA at MCC, as evidenced by a school transcript or other official College document. This document should reflect the overall average as of the end of each semester.
