Rafe Reginald "Reggie" Ellison Memorial Endowed Fund
Rafe Reginald “Reggie” Ellison, III, a proud Monroe Community College alumnus, dedicated his life to community development, housing policy, and mentorship. Inspired by his own journey, Reggie established the Sumati V. Devadutt Award for Academic Excellence at MCC in honor of his professor—supporting students from Rochester City Schools in their academic pursuits. Following his high school graduation, Reggie enlisted in the U.S. Army. After being honorably discharged in 1994, Reggie attended MCC where he earned his associate’s degree in 1997. He then went on to the University of Buffalo, graduating with a degree in economics in 1999. In 2001, Reggie completed a master’s degree in public affairs from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs. Now, in his memory, the Rafe Reginald “Reggie” Ellison Memorial Scholarship continues his legacy. Students may apply for both scholarships and are eligible to receive both, ensuring that Reggie’s commitment to education and opportunity will uplift future generations at MCC for years to come.
