Thomas C. Hetherington Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Tom Hetherington, an alumnus of MCC, devoted his life to the fire service and serving his community. He began his career as an Explorer with the Churchville Volunteer Fire Department and worked his way up through the ranks, eventually becoming chief. In his final years, he was Assistant Chief of the Middlesex Hose Company and a Fire Investigator for the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control with his K-9 partner, Taz. This scholarship honors Tom’s legacy of service and seeks to support the generation of firefighters and paramedics.
ELIGIBILITY
1.) Enrolled in the fire protection technology or paramedic A.A.S. degree programs at MCC.
2.) Demonstrated financial need or merit.
3.) MCC GPA of 2.5 or 3.0 for continued eligibility.
4.) Preference for students who are active volunteers with a fire or ambulance service and/or have completed a fire or EMT Explorer program.
